Humber Half Marathon & Fun Run

The half marathon is a single loop circuit run entirely on road surface, undulating throughout, crossing the bridge in both directions and passing through the villages of Hessle and Barton on Humber. It is run strictly in accordance with British Athletic Federation, UKA and British Association of Road Races rules.This event, which celebrates its eleventh anniversary in 2010, is now established as one of the best organised, challenging runs in the north of England and provides full on-line entry with immediate confirmation and issue of running numbers and also features full electronic chip timing on a “gun to line” and “line to line” basis. Until 1998, the Humber Bridge was the world’s longest single span suspension bridge, with a span of 1,410 metres. It provides spectacular views of the river and the Yorkshire and Lincolnshire Wolds on either bank of the river. It is still the longest bridge you can cross on foot or cycle - so it really is rather special! The Family Fun Run follows the first two miles of the Humber Bridge Half Marathon course. Run on road/pavement through the outskirts of Hessle, it peels off just before the bridge, itself, to pass under the approach road on the north bank before rejoining the finishing straight and finish of the full course. The total distance is approximately 2.4 miles.The route is fully marshaled throughout. This event is organised by the Rotary Club of Hull.
