At the beginning of 2015, Luke Chapman (9) embarked on a unbelievable mission to raise a staggering £25,000 in one year so that many more sick children could enjoy a magical Wish…
...and #CelebrateADaywithLuke was born. Luke came up with the idea, for someone, anywhere in the world to help celebrate a ‘National Day’, in doing so they would help Luke raise funds and there are more National days than you would have thought. A few favourites were Star Wars day, Chocolate day, Weather Man day, Ice Cream day and Be A Millionaire for the day with hundred’s more …….. Since the 1st January Luke hasn’t stopped raising funds and this is truly exceptional for anyone, especially someone who is only 9 years of age! It’s not only us that think so as just a couple of weeks ago, Luke was invited for a very special day trip to London and he had no idea what was going to be in store and Luke certainly didn’t anticipate meeting the Prime Minster, Mr David Cameron! The Prime Minister had heard all about Luke’s fundraising and was so impressed he appointed Luke with the 421st ‘Point of Light’ and invited Luke to 10 Downing Street to receive his award personally. Luke’s £25,000 target has now been smashed and currently stands at £28,000 and is still rising….
We are so proud of you Luke and thank you so much for helping us to make so many more magical Wishes come true. If you would like to donate to Celebrate a Day with Luke please click here...
Our friend Karl McLelland is undertaking the popular cycling phenomenon known as “Everesting” ,he is completing this to raise money for When You Wish Upon a Star to help grant Wishes.
To get an “Everest,” you have to climb a hill of your choice as many times as it takes to reach the total elevation of Mount Everest, which is a staggering 8848 metres, and all being done in under 24 hours!!
Karl has chosen the hill near The Wizard at Alderley Edge. He will need lots of physical, mental and cycling strength to achieve his goal,
Karl will climb the hill 95 times during the day and estimates it will take him about 16 hours
Karl we wish you "the very best of luck"

One of our friends James Warnock, used to be a cross country-fell runner, decided to get back into it by setting himself the challenge of running the “Gritstone Grind” to raise money to grant Wishes for our courageous children.
This is a 35 mile ultra-marathon, the route is very picturesque, but the terrain is very tough!
The Gritstone Grind starts in Kidsgrove, near Stoke-on-Trent and ends in Disley, Cheshire and it has to be completed within 12 hours!
Thank you James for choosing to “Run for a Wish.” and if you would like to support James, please visit … http://www.justgiving.com/jameswarnock

The North West Wish Team have been granting Wishes since 1997.
We know only too well, that the many children who ask us to make their Wishes come true have their own personal mountains to climb and for some the summit may never be reached. Knowing that they will receive their very own Wish can give them a much needed boost, often at a time when it’s needed the most.
Fundraising is a vital part of our Wish granting and all monies raised will make a big difference to a little life, and create those all important memories that will stay with them and their families for many years to come.
As we enter our 19th year as fairy godmothers, we have come to realise that illness knows no boundaries, or borders. It can strike any child anywhere. Please help us to carry on granting more Wishes for some amazing children.
