Inspirational Wish dad takes on challenge events

Our supporters inspire us on a daily basis and none more so than Andy Talbot who has signed up to complete five half marathons and one full marathon in 2023.

Andy explains “Wish has given our family so much and brought us smiles in trying times. This is just our way of saying thank you and raising money for other sick children.” 

The motivation to take-on so many physical events in one year is Andy’s young son, Harry. At just 7 years old Harry, living with complex medical conditions life can be very challenging at times for Harry, but he never let his health define him and is always smiling!

Andy’s fundraising adventures will start on Sunday 12 March at the Stafford Half Marathon. And will be supported by our very own Wish Bear, plus members the 96th Whitmore and Baldwins gate Scout group who will be taking part in the Stafford Fun Run.

• Great North Run 10 September
• Robin Hood Half Marathon on 24 September

Harry’s family told us:

“When a member of your family has consistent health battles, the stress and worry is overwhelming, the unknown is daunting, the future is blurred and family life that others may take for granted becomes very stressful. 

On our journey since Harry has been born we have been fortunate to be invited to numerous events organised by When You Wish Upon a Star and most recently having Harry's wish granted. Through the kindness of this warm hearted charity, it has given us chances to make magical memories as a family, which will last a life time. 

It's now our turn to give something back to When You Wish Upon a Star to help them grant future wishes to families with sick children. We want to give back as a family with a variety of different challenges and events to help to raise as much money as possible for this wonderful charity that really does give families hope in their darkest days.”
