Simplyhealth Great North Run
Starting in Newcastle upon Tyne the 13.1 mile route takes runners through the city centre towards the River Tyne where thousands of people will cross over the iconic Tyne Bridge, where if you're lucky, you might get a glimpse of the Red Arrows passing overhead.
From there runners will travel through Gateshead while being entertained by our Bands on the Run.
The route, lined by thousands of supporters, leads runners to South Shields where at the top of Prince Edward Road the view of the sea is one of the most welcoming sights along the whole course. From that point there is just over a mile to go and the crowds get louder as runners make their way down the final straight towards the finish gantry.

So, why not run for When You Wish Upon a Star, because we can convert those hard-earned sponsor monies into granting Wishes for children living with life threatening and terminal illnesses.
A non-refundable entry fee of £60, is payable by all runners and each runner must commit to raising a minimum of £250 in sponsorship.
Runners must be aged 18+ and have the physical fitness required to run a half marathon. Travel to and from the event must be organised by the runner. We have, in total, 25 guaranteed places. On receipt of the entry payment we will send out paper sponsor forms, a pack about our charity, details of setting up a Justgiving page (our preferred online merchant) and in due course, a running vest for you to proudly wear. Every £400 raised in sponsorship will sponsor a seat on board this year's Santa Express trip, so every penny really does count.
