Roger, Ethan & Lawrence take on Chester Half Marathon

Roger told us why and where their fundraising journey for When You Wish Upon a Star began: “My two sons, Ethan and Lawrence, did Chester half marathon as their first half marathon attempt.  We had fabulous weather and I was really proud of them both for finishing so well.  (I finished too, but I've done many half marathons).  I suspect Ethan will continue running, but for Lawrence he definitely has no plans to repeat the experience!

When Ethan was 8 years old, he was diagnosed with cancer, and had surgery and chemotherapy.  He made a wish with you, and you kindly sent our entire family to Florida to swim with dolphins, and also gave us tickets to various theme parks including Universal and the Disney parks.  It really was the holiday of a lifetime, and when we look back at that time, it's the Florida memories that come to mind first, rather than the memories of the challenges that inevitably came along with his diagnoses and treatment  So our decision to support you rather than any other charity was a no-brainer: we know what you do, and how much your work is appreciated by the children who benefit from it, and by their families. 

(N.B. in case you were wondering, Ethan is a healthy adult now, currently studying at Huddersfield University, and generally thriving.)
