Paul Smith Appointed New Chair of Trustees for When You Wish Upon a Star

When You Wish Upon a Star is delighted to announce the appointment of Paul Smith as the new Chair of Trustees, succeeding long-standing Chair Trevor Mills, who is stepping down after a number of  years of dedicated service, we are delighted to confirm that Trevor will remain on the Board of Trustees for the foreseeable future.

When You Wish Upon a Star has been granting wishes for children living with life-threatening illnesses across the UK since 1990. Paul Smith brings with him a wealth of leadership experience and a deep passion for charitable work, having supported a number of children’s and community-focused initiatives over the past two decades.

Paul is a partner in the Advisory Team of PKF Littlejohn in Manchester, he will draw upon his commercial insights and business experience as the new chair.  

Outgoing Chair Trevor Mills expressed his pride in the charity’s journey and confidence in his successor: 

“It has been an immense honour to serve as Chair and to witness firsthand the joy, strength, and hope this charity brings to families during their most difficult moments. I step down with full confidence in Paul’s leadership and vision, and I know he will continue to champion the mission and heart of When You Wish Upon a Star.”

Paul Smith shared his enthusiasm for the role and his commitment to building on the charity’s strong foundations:

“I am truly humbled to take on the role of Chair for such a treasured and impactful charity. The work of When You Wish Upon a Star is both inspiring and vital, and I look forward to working alongside our team, volunteers, and supporters to ensure we continue to bring unforgettable moments of magic to children and families who need them most.”
