Meet our new Chief Executive

We are pleased to announce that Anita Cleugh has joined When You Wish Upon a Star as its first Chief Executive.  The Nottingham based national charity was founded 32 years ago by Barbara White OBE, and grants Wishes for children with life threatening illness.

Anita brings with her a wealth of experience working in the charitable sector. She will work alongside the Trustees and senior managers, to lead When You Wish Upon a Star’s growth after the challenges of the pandemic. This is an exciting time for the Charity, which will soon be launching a major fundraising campaign, so we can provide more memorable experiences in 2023. 

Founder, Barbara White, OBE, said,  

As we plan for 2023, Anita and her staff will be working hard to expand our Wish offer and reinstate our annual Lapland trip treat for Wish children and their families visit the real Father Christmas and play in the frozen forest at the Arctic Circle.

We believe that every child deserves to smile and every family deserves the opportunity to make magical memories. We give them something to look forward to during periods of severe illness and we welcome Anita, who joins us in delivering this mission.
