Charles Hanson joins Team Wish

TV personality and antique expert Charles Hanson will be running Great North Run for children’s Wish granting charity, When You Wish Upon a Star. Charles, who first appeared on Bargain Hunt in 2002, last ran the Great North Run 10 years ago and is digging out his running shoes in memory of his son Thomas, who was still born in 2013. Charles tells us:

“10 years on felt a fitting time to support poorly children and remember loved ones not with us anymore. I do what I can to help people and knowing this run will enable families to create precious memories, when time is short is something worth running 13 miles for.”

 

When You Wish Upon a Star grant Wishes for children with life threatening and terminal illness across the UK. In times of uncertainty and often financial strain as well as emotional strain, Wishes allow the family to put their child’s illness on hold and have fun and step away from the pressure of hospital visits.

The Great North Run takes place on Sunday 10^th September starting in Newcastle and ending in South Shields, with on-course music zones and charity cheering squads, motivating runners like Charles, to keep those legs pumping, it’s a world class elite race televised around the globe.

 

It's hard not to feel a wave of emotion and excitement as you think about the iconic start line, surrounded by tens of thousands of fellow participants, ready to run from city to sea. And along the way, those fellow participants and roaring crowds become your support, your new friends, your memories, and your experience.
