Partner Highlight: Eaton Golf Club

When You Wish Upon a Star is proud to shine a spotlight on Eaton Golf Club, one of our newest partners whose support is driven by a deeply personal connection to the charity's work.

Although the partnership is less than a year old, Eaton Golf Club has already embraced fundraising for When You Wish Upon a Star, bringing its members together with a shared purpose and helping raise awareness of the life-changing support the charity provides to children living with life-threatening illnesses and their families.

For Club Captain David Staniforth, the decision to support the charity was inspired by first-hand experience.

David shared: "My wife’s son was critically ill at birth with a relatively rare disease, and the support, meeting and trip provided by When You Wish Upon a Star was vital. Having experienced the difference the charity can make, supporting its work was something that felt very important to us."

Since becoming a partner, Eaton Golf Club has worked closely with the charity's team to organise fundraising events, benefiting from practical support and guidance that helped members better understand the impact their fundraising could have.

David added: "Our experience working with the team has been excellent. In organising two events, the charity provided practical, hands-on support on both days that proved significantly beneficial. Their presence and direct involvement helped our members understand why we were so passionate about supporting the charity."

Beyond fundraising, the partnership has helped strengthen a shared sense of purpose across the club. Members have come together around a common goal, while gaining a greater appreciation of the challenges faced by families caring for a seriously ill child.

David believes one of the charity's greatest strengths is the support it provides not only to children, but to entire families during some of their most difficult moments.

"What makes When You Wish Upon a Star special is its targeted support for families as well as the children themselves. The charity's impact is crucial at a time of need, and its knowledge and guidance help supporters understand both the need and how we can make a meaningful difference. It's a charity that, with greater awareness, everyone can buy into and understand the significant impact it can make."
